As salaamu alaikum,
I have been caught doing this wearing my not so loose jeans with a khimar just to get out the door to take the kids to daycare/school. But lately on the train I've been seeing a lot of Muslimahs rocking jeans so tight that they look as though they can't sit down or their jeans will split or like they can't breathe.
What does everyone think about it?

Salaam, sister. I too am a NYC Muslimah! I have definitely noticed. You can't not notice some of the outfits. Recently I've seen skinny jeans or leggings paired with knee high stiletto boots and a tight turtle neck. Sometimes I think we forget that just because our skin and hair are covered doesn't mean our outfit is modest.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Skinny jeans with Knee high stiletto boots? OMG!! I bet no one could tell her that she wasn't covered. My thing is I am not going to sit here and say I am the best or most modest sister in Islam because every one slips up, but I honestly believe that being a Muslimah we are walking advertisements for Islam. So if we aren't representing ourselves or Islam correctly we are no better than the non believer who thinks we are oppressed because we cover or " too pretty to wear a scarf and long sleeved shirts". And yes someone did actually say that to me. :O
